During my Master’s of Digital Media, I began to develop a mobile application that is purposed to improve accessibility at airports for those with mobility disabilities, particular those in need of wheelchairs. During my thesis, my research found that there are several lawsuits against Toronto Pearson for disorganized wheelchair service. This mobile application automates the consignment of wheelchairs at airports while introducing an interface that provides both customers and employees with a new way of communicating. In October 2017, this project became a finalist in the Ryerson Accessibility Project Hub and was awarded approximately $20,000 in funding with a July 2019 projected launch date. It’s currently in iOS development.
